Obituary for Anna Jean Hutchinson (Lockhart)

Mrs. Anna Jean Lockhart Hutchinson, age 80, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, formerly of Honaker, passed away Tuesday (April 28, 2020) in a Cedar Bluff nursing facility. Born September 17, 1939 in Finney, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth V. Honaker Lockhart. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a High School graduate and went on the further her education at Radford University and Clinch Valley College obtaining a Bachelors’ Degree in Education. She taught Elementary education for Russell County School System retiring with thirty-four years of service, and had also taught with the G.E.D. Program at night. She was a devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church as long as her health permitted and enjoyed crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Hutchinson, Jr., one son, Michael Edward Hutchinson, and one brother, Thurman Lockhart.
Survivors include two sons, James M. Hutchinson, III and wife, Angela of Cedar Bluff, and Mark A. Hutchinson and wife, Pam of Appalachia; one sister, Norma Faye Griffith and husband, Bill of Rosedale; five grandchildren, James M. Hutchinson, IV, Brianna K. Smith and husband, Dakota, Tyler Evan Hutchinson, Brittany N. Hutchinson, and Matthew Hutchinson; five great-grandchildren, Julian Ortiz, Brooklyn Ortiz, Milo Smith, Nolan Smith, and Oaklynn Smith.
In consideration of health and well-being of others and in respect of the guidelines of the CDC and the Commonwealth of Virginia services will be a private family gathering with Rev. Vonley Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Tyler E. Hutchinson, Matthew Hutchinson, Dakota Smith, Anthony Frazier, Bill Griffith, and Randy Stinson.
James M. Hutchinson, IV will serve as honorary pallbearer.
