Obituary for Anna Ruth Harris

Anna Ruth Harris, age 67, of Honaker, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2021, with her family by her side. Born March 7, 1954, she was a daughter of the late Barnie and Sadie Harris. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1972 graduate of Council High School. She went on to have a very successful career, having worked as a deputy sheriff, LPN, respiratory therapist and the owner and operator of a Respiratory Equipment Rental Company. She had most recently worked with the Breast Cancer Awareness and Diabetes Management program thru the Russell County Health Department. Anna was recognized with several honors and awards throughout her career and she always enjoyed helping others and was loved by everyone. Her prayer for her friends and family was, “The Lord bless thee and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee. The Lord lift his countenance upon thee and give thee peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Peggy Harris, Shirley Johnson, Sue Thomas, Cathleen Harris Stone, Patty Blankenship; two brothers, B.F. Harris and Lawrence Harris; paternal grandparents, Jay and Pearly Harris and maternal grandparents, Walker and Chloe Thomas.
Survivors include one brother, Gene Harris and wife, Hazel of Prosperity, South Carolina and one sister, Eula Gaye Hess and husband, Harlis of Rosedale, Virginia; sister-in-law, Zola Mae Harris; special niece, Natalie Thomas of Honaker, Virginia and several additional nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Perkins and Rev. Michael Blankenship officiating. Entombment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Cheyenne Harris, Gary Hess, Mark Blankenship, Michael Blankenship, Greg Harris and Mark Brown.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required. For those unable or uncomfortable attending, the funeral service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page as well as our webpage.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Friday where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM.
