Obituary for Arlan "Dan" Danny Honaker
Mr. Arlan Danny “Dan” Honaker, age 70, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Friday (December 25, 2020) in a Richlands, Virginia, hospital. Born May 19, 1950 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Nathan and Jettie Dye Honaker. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Freewill Baptist and Holiness faith. He was a retired coal miner, having been employed by Island Creek #3, and was a member of UMWA Local #1640. He enjoyed farming and working on equipment, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Rev. Thurman Honaker, Rev. Miles Honaker, Edward Honaker, Fairly Honaker, and one infant sister, Helen Honaker.
Survivors include his wife of nearly fifty years, Ann Honaker of the home; two children, Charles Harvey Honaker and wife, Cindy, Sherry Beth Honaker and companion, Perry Taylor; granddaughters, Desiree Billings, Christen Charles, and Makayla Honaker; great-grandchildren, Rylan Billings, Aubrey Billings, Katelyn Charles, Emma Charles, and Amelia Charles; two brothers, Buford Honaker and Sonny Honaker and wife, Sharon; three sisters, Mary Sue Crabtree and husband, Mack, Juanita Gross, and Anna Honaker; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Denver Barton, Rev. Steve Perkins, Rev. Rick Smith, and Rev. Ethan Gross officiating. Interment will follow in the Honaker Cemetery at Nash’s Ford, Virginia.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required. For those unable or uncomfortable attending, the service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page as well as our webpage
Pallbearers will be Jessee Keesee, Wesley Shell, Shannon Smith, Malachi Smith, Caleb Smith, Isaiah Smith, and Dennis Honaker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Honaker, Archie Honaker, Woodrow Honaker, Randall Honaker, Roy Honaker, Buford Honaker, and Sonny Honaker.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 AM – 12 Noon.
