Obituary for Avery Wayne Ratliff
Avery Wayne “Ave” Ratliff, age 51, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday (August 9, 2020) in a Richlands, Virginia Hospital. Born February 14, 1969 in Radford, Virginia, he was a son of Delores Ann Owens Bostic of Honaker, Virginia and the late Avery Deldon Ratliff. A lifelong resident of the area, he was formally employed as a coal miner and was a member of the First Clarks Valley Church of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching westerns and singing in church.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jess and Mindy Ratliff and maternal grandparents, Basil and Jean Owens.
Survivors, in addition to his mother and step-father, Perry Bostic, include his wife, Jennifer Ratliff of Honaker, Virginia; two sons, Dustin Ratliff and wife, Amanda of Honaker, Virginia and Evan Ratliff and wife, Caroline of Abingdon, Virginia; one daughter, Danielle Compton and husband, Cody of Honaker, Virginia; two brothers, Larry Ratliff of Honaker, Virginia and Jamie Ratliff and wife, Anna of Bristol, Virginia; sister Armanda Goodie and husband, Steven of Bristol, Virginia; seven grandsons, Levi, Brent, Johnathon, Trent, Trevor, Landon and Maverick; six granddaughters, Alyssa, Emma, Layla, Annabelle, Zoey and Karleigh; special sister-in-law, Jonah Ball and special nieces, Devan Hale and Savannah Johnson also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Damron officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Cody Compton, Steven Goodie, Tim Street, Jake Street, Tyler Ratliff, Evan Ratliff and Josh Hale.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Meadows, Rodney Woolford, Tommy Whited, Joey Vance and grandsons.
In lieu of flower, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in the form of donations to the Avery Ratliff Memorial Fund c/o Honaker Funeral Home P.O. Box 1620 Honaker, VA 24260.
