Mr. Barry Douglas Miller, age 59, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Monday (February 20, 2023) at his home. Born December 24, 1963 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Rev. Jessie and Mildred Honaker Miller. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1982 graduate of Honaker High School. He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended Swords Creek Block Church. He had been a coal miner for many years and was currently employed by Coronado Coal Company. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed football, baseball, and NASCAR, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sandy Whitt, one brother, Jerl Miller, and one nephew, Jody Munsey.
Survivors include three children, Joshua Miller and wife, Kendra of Abingdon, Lindsey Marshall and husband, Chris of Honaker, and Andrew Miller of Honaker; two sisters, Diane Munsey and husband, Tim of Belfast and Pamela Deel and husband, Lloyd of Prater; special friend, Angel Ray; several nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank to Tina Hill, FNP, Dr. Ryan Kellogg, the staff of UVA Medical Center, and Encompass Health for the love and care they provided.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Steve Perkins and Bro. Joshua Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Tony Honaker, Josh Miller, Chris Miller, Adam Whitt, Jordan Whitt, and Mark Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be men of Coronado Coal, Steve Miller, and Houston “Hoot” Miller.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Wednesday.
