Mr. Bobby Gene Whited, age 77, of the Long Branch section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Monday (May 9, 2022) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born March 12, 1945 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Roscoe Hearl and Edith Compton Whited. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a retired coal miner, having been employed at Jewell Ridge and Clinchfield Coal, and a member of the Lambert Fork UMWA Local 1426. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, especially Daisy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, but most of all he loved the Lord.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Doris Ann Whited; one son, Robert Eugene Whited and wife, Jeanette of Swords Creek; two daughters, Juanita Mitchell and husband, Jerry of Honaker, and Robin Jessee and husband, Ricky of Rosedale; six grandchildren, Bethany Boyd and husband, Vernal, Andrea Scarberry and husband, Justin, Scotty Whited and fiancé, Brooke Lowe, Chris Whited, Payton Jessee, and Collin Jessee; great-grandchildren, Mason Scarberry, Trace Boyd, Kennedy Boyd, and an expected grandson in October; sister, Betty Wells; three brothers, Rodger Whited and wife, Ruby, Dallas Whited and wife, Barbara, and Ellis Whited and wife, Helen; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Joel Horn and Rev. Daniel Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Whited-Cox Cemetery at Swords Creek, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Roy Wells, Kenneth Robinette, Kevin Robinette, Jamie Fletcher, Dustin McGlothlin, Logan McGlothlin, Lee Hess, Roger Hubbard, Wayne Ray, and Jeffery Peck.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Thursday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
