Obituary for Brad Coleman

Brad Coleman, age 40, of the Belfast section of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, passed away Sunday (August 13, 2023) at his home. Born April 12, 1983 in Grundy, Virginia, he was a son of Monnie Ray Coleman of Rowe, Virginia and the late Linda Carol Blankenship Coleman. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 2001 graduate of Garden High School. He had been a coal miner for seventeen years, working at Jewel Smokeless (Revelation Coal) and at Buchanan One. He attended Crossroads Church at Rosedale. He was an avid hunter and a hard worker. He was a devoted father and his children were his world.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bud and Hester Blankenship, paternal grandparents, Ernest “Shorty” and Melda Coleman, special friend, Gary Woodard, and a special aunt, Wanda Yates.
In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Kierra Coleman; daughter Lexy Coleman of Honaker; son, Travis Coleman of Honaker; brother, R.J. “Tater” Coleman and wife, Kriste of Honaker; sister, Marvella Smith; nephews, Kevin Coleman, Caleb O’Neal, Zachary Smith and T.J. Smith; aunts and uncles, Ronnie and Margaret Blankenship, Randy and Donna Blankenship; special fur babies, Frank and Lance; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kelsey McCoy, PAC, Lydia Novruzov, PAC, and JMH Cancer Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Tim Whited officiating. Interment will follow in the Street Cemetery at Rowe, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Travis Coleman, R.J. Coleman, Jeremiah Musick, Chris “Red” Stevens, Bill Lester, Eric Cook, Russell Sykes and Aaron Stilwell.
Honorary pallbearers will be coal miners of Buchanan One Mine.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Thursday at the Honaker Funeral Home, where a service of sharing memories will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
