Obituary for Buford Hale

Buford Hale, age 74, of Medway Ohio, passed away, December 6, 2022, at his home. Born January 2, 1948 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Clarence Jake and Nora Fletcher Hale. He had spent his early life in the Buchanan County area and was a graduate of Council High School. After graduation, he went on to serve his country in the United States Army where he received a Bronze Star Medal for his heroic achievement during the Vietnam War. He had formally been employed as a coal miner prior to moving to Dayton, Ohio, where he worked at General Motors, and had retired as an Electrician for Greene County, Ohio. Buford enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Buster Hale of Medway, Ohio, Bert Hale of Dayton, Ohio, and Paul Hale of Council, Virginia; one sister, Anna Joyce Faulkner of Bellbrook, Ohio; one nephew, Michael Lester of Nashville, Tennessee; two brothers-in-law Clarence Lester of Xenia, Ohio, Curt Lockhart of St. Cloud, Florida; special friend, Norma Linkhart of Medway, Ohio.
Survivors include one daughter, Norelle Giles and husband, Mark of Wise, Virginia, one grandson, Rowan Giles of Wise, Virginia, four sisters, Julia Lester of Xenia, Ohio, Estelle Regon and husband, Nick of Cookeville, Tennessee, Shirley Lockhart of Bristol, Virginia, and Darlene Hale of Medway, Ohio; one brother-in-law John Faulkner of Bellbrook, Ohio; one sister-in-law Rita Hale of Council, Virginia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends after 1:00 PM Saturday at Honaker Funeral Home.
