Mr. Buford Stanley Helton, age 71, of the Stinson Ridge section of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Saturday (January 25, 2020) in a Grundy, Virginia hospital. Born February 10, 1948 in Rowe Virginia, he was a son of the late Noah and Carrie Bailey Helton. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He had made his living as a carpenter and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lorene Lester, Jerlene McGlothlin, and Fayrene Yates, and two brothers, F.P. Helton and infant, Curtis Helton.
Survivors include one son, Randy Helton of Honaker; one brother, Carlos Helton and wife, Geraldine of Rowe; one sister, Eva Mae Hale and husband, Leonard of Drill; sister-in-law, Shelia Helton of Honaker; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Helton Cemetery on Stinson Ridge.
Pallbearers will be Randy Lester, Ralph McGlothlin, Bobby Lester, Jeff Lester, Jason Reynolds, and Clay Reynolds.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Reynolds and Gary Helton.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home from 1 – 2 PM Tuesday.
