Mr. Buford Seawright, Jr., age 65 of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (September 13, 2022) in a Pikeville, Kentucky hospital. Born January 8, 1957 in Hoschton, Georgia, he was a son of the late Buford Seawright, Sr. and Thelma Healan Seawright. A graduate of Cherokee High School in Georgia, he had moved to the Swords Creek area twenty-four years ago. He had formerly been employed at Tyson Foods in Georgia and more recently with Russell County PSA. He was a member of Swords Creek Community Baptist Church and enjoyed collecting lawn mowers and tools.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sonya Seawright; siblings, Tony Seawright, John Henry Seawright, and Judy Partee; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Denny and Tampa Kay Hubbard; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph C. Weber and Jessie L. Weber.
Survivors include one sister, Brenda Kay Purdy and husband, David of Dawson Springs, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Linda Hubbard and companion, Arnold Wilson of Dawsonville, Georgia, Monica Stanley of Swords Creek, Benita Blackwell and husband, Denny of Swords Creek, and Lana Seawright of Monticello, Georgia; special sisters-in-law, Kathy Price and husband, J.J. and Rosie Crabtree both of Swords Creek; special daughter, B.B. Helm; host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia with Dr. Matthew Jessee, Rev. Steve Ray, and Rev. Junior Ray officiating. Entombment will follow.
