Obituary

Mr. Buster O’Quinn, age 82, of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Friday (January 1, 2021) in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. Born September 14, 1938 in Dickenson County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Walter and Vernie O’Quinn. He had spent most of his life in the area and was a member of Duty Pentecostal Church. A disabled coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Clinchfield Coal Company and was a member of UMWA Local 1423. He enjoyed gardening and doing yardwork, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl O’Quinn, Ola O’Quinn, and Aubrey O’Quinn, and one grandson, Hunter Timothy Howard.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Jean Tiller O’Quinn; one son, Keith O’Quinn and wife, Debbie of Lebanon; one daughter, Christy Howard and husband, Timothy of Abingdon; grandson, Tyler Howard of Abingdon; three brothers, Glen O’Quinn and wife, Lucy and Ed O’Quinn and wife, Judy all of Lebanon, and Emory O’Quinn of Bee; one sister, Velva Lambert of Abingdon; step-granddaughters, Leslie Vandyke and Chris, and Amanda Brewer and Chad; step-great-grandchildren, Brian Vandyke, Grayson Brewer, and Madison Brewer; sisters-in-law, Iona O’Quinn, Helen O’Quinn, Vernelle Perrigan and husband, Hershel, Glenna Ray and husband, Dexter, Brenda Fletcher and husband, Jerry, and Barbara Honaker; brothers-in-law, James Tiller and wife, Yuvonne, and Lester Tiller and wife, Sandra; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Private funeral services will be conducted for the family at 11:00 AM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. James Tiller and Rev. Jeff Tiller officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required. For those unable or uncomfortable attending, the service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page as well as our webpage.
