Obituary for Carolyn "Kaye" Rutherford (Taylor)

Mrs. Carolyn “Kaye” Rutherford, age 69, of the Clarks Valley section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (September 14, 2022) in Bristol, Tennessee. Born September 3, 1953 in Richlands, Virginia, she was a daughter of Ruth “Nell” Simmons Taylor of Raven and the late Willie B. Taylor. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1973 graduate of Richlands High School. She attended Gracewood Community Church in Lebanon, Virginia. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and baking, but most of all spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed, especially by her grandchildren. She will be remembered by them as the best cook in the world, with her secret ingredient being “love”, and her specialty being Christmas morning French Toast.
In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband of forty-nine years, William Rutherford of the home; four children, Kimberly Rutherford Keen and husband, Travis of Honaker, Bryan Rutherford of West Jefferson, North Carolina, Lindsay Rutherford Wilson and husband, Mike of Rosedale, and Phillip Rutherford and wife, Marty of Honaker; eight grandchildren, Chloe Rutherford, Preston Keen, Lilli Rutherford, Reese Ratliff, Leighara Rutherford, Henley Wilson, Callie Keen, and Ella Rutherford; three siblings, Benton Taylor of Roanoke, Tommy Taylor and wife, Marilyn of Pounding Mill, and Jean Pruitt and husband, Corky of Richlands; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Timmy Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Mike Wilson, Travis Keen, Dink Shortt, Garrett Shortt, Preston Keen, Jonathan Miller, and Steven Pruitt.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home from 10 AM – 12 noon Saturday.
