Obituary for Carolyn Marie Lester (Hess)
Mrs. Carolyn Marie Hess Lester, age 67, of the River Mountain Road section of Lebanon, Virginia passed away Saturday (January 30, 2021) in Abingdon, Virginia. Born March 31, 1953 in Russell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Charmie Hess. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of Outreach Temple. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and fishing, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Phyllis Hess, Abraham Hess, William Hess, and Margaret Hess.
Survivors include her husband of forty-nine years, James Lester of the home; three children, Melissa Carolyn Kiser and husband, Greg of Rosedale, Regina Lynn Belcher and husband, David of Rosedale, and J.L. Lester and wife, Megan of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Austin Kiser, Michael Belcher, Nicholas Belcher, and Brogan Lester; three sisters, Betty Cook and companion, Oscar, Mary Easterling and husband, John, and Bernice Higgins; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon at Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Jeff Kinder officiating. Honorary minister will be her pastor, Rev. Arvil Arwood. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jay Howard, Jonathan Short, Josh Horton, Ray Lester, Randy Howard, Oscar Stiltner, and William Lester.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home on Monday from 11 – 12 Noon.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required. For those unable or uncomfortable attending, the funeral service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page as well as our webpage.
