Cathy Lynn Payne, age 62, of North Tazewell, Virginia, passed away Friday (January 1, 2021) in Princeton, West Virginia. Born January 23, 1958 in Tazewell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Gladys Sanders Meadows. A lifelong resident of the southwest Virginia area, she was a 1976 graduate of Garden High School and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was currently employed as a Clerk at the Tazewell Post Office, having been employed with the United States Postal Service for twenty-two years. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, crafts, and cooking, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Payne, two brothers, Michael Meadows and Larry Meadows, and one sister, Loretta Cockrell.
Survivors include two daughters, Heather Lee and husband, Jay of Bristol, Tennessee and Christy Smith and husband, Brad of Bristol, Virginia; three grandchildren, Rachael Madyson Smith, Makinzi Smith, and Isaac Smith; sister, Jill Meadows and fiancé, Phillip Pauley; her special love, Lloyd Bowman, and his family whom she loved, Mike and Amanda Bowman, Kendall, Cameron, and Matthew; special niece, Krissi Lee and husband, Wes, and children, Dylan and Chloe.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 5:00 PM Sunday.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia with Rev. Dave Gibson officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Lee, Brad Smith, Phillip Pauley, Mike Bowman, and Wes Lee.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required.
