Obituary for Charlie Willis Presley
Mr. Charlie Willis Presley, age 77, of the Coal Tipple Hollow section of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Friday (October 14, 2022) at Bristol Hospice House in Bristol, Tennessee. Born January 9, 1945 in the Hurricane Creek section of Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Charlie and Melissa Hale Presley. He was a 1964 graduate of Council High School. He worked several different jobs while settling in to the coal industry, first working for Clinchfield Coal Company and then switching to Island Creek Coal Company. He earned his Mine Foreman and Underground Electrical Papers and worked at VP-5 with many valued friends until he became disabled at age 42. No longer able to return to the mines, he spent his time hunting and fishing and camping, which he enjoyed more than life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Gall, one brother, Joseph “Jody” Presley, and one bother-in-law, Jack Deel.
Survivors include his wife of nearly twenty-one years, Trula Presley of the home; one son, Christopher Presley and wife, Christine of Cleveland, Virginia; daughter, Roberta Rovegno and husband, Richard of New Port Richey, Florida; grandchildren, Kevin Lee Willis and Krista Willis; four siblings, Emily Deel of Fox Creek, Virginia, Arthur Presley and wife, Sherry Ann of Hurricane Creek, Virginia, Phyllis Jackson and husband, Gary of Abingdon, Virginia, Ann Barton and Lewis of Hurricane Creek, Virginia; one step-son, Dwain Gilbert and wife, Maggie of Meadowview, Virginia; step-grandchildren, JeMeka Gilbert and Kason Gilbert; three step- grandchildren ands several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Lebanon, Virginia with Rev. Arnold King officiating. Entombment will follow. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the mausoleum.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Rovegno, Chris Presley, Dwain Gilbert, Kevin Willis, and Jackie Boyd.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 PM Monday (October 17, 2022) at Honaker Funeral Home.
