Obituary for Claude Bascom Musick

Mr. Claude Bascom “Peanut” “Strawberry” Musick, age 76, of Lebanon, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (May 22, 2022) at his home. Born December 1, 1945 at Big A Mountain, Virginia, he was a son of the late Bascom S. and Elsie Stevens Musick. A lifelong resident of the area, he had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for Delrick Corporation. He was a very considerate, hardworking man, a skilled bee keeper and an excellent provider for his wife and children. He was extremely devoted to God and his family. He was a member of Honaker Church of God, where he enjoyed greeting his brothers and sisters in Christ as he collected the church offering and he touched many lives by being available to lend a hand when someone was in need. His family was his greatest accomplishment. Often, when all the children and grandchildren were together, he would remark to his wife, “This all started with me and you, Blondy!”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Kennon and seven brothers, Ernie Musick, Kermit Musick, Randolph Musick, Earl Musick, Ronnie Musick, Donnie Musick, and Gene Musick.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty years, Barbara “Blondy” Musick of the home; three children, Mary Elizabeth Proffitt, Jeremiah Bascom Musick and Claudia Katherine Whited and husband, Jason Carl; four grandchildren, Elijah Bascom Musick, Allison Cheyanne Musick, Luke Isaac Whited and Daphne Katherine Whited; three brothers, Gary Musick, Tim Musick and Joe Musick; two sisters, Barbara Marshall and Mildred Stilwell; his bee partner and best friend, Tommy Gilbert; his ROOK partner, Cecil Keene and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Day and Tommy Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 PM Tuesday.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the Rosie Claypole Cemetery, Lumber Lane, Honaker, Virginia with Pastor Paul Day officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at Honaker Funeral Home by 10:30 AM to travel in the funeral procession.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
