Mr. Danny Lee Penley, age 57, of the Drill section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (January 26, 2021). Born December 6, 1963 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Stanford and Hazel Lowe Penley. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Honaker High School. He had formerly been employed as a truck driver and enjoyed racing and animals. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Dewey Edmond Deel, Jr.
Survivors include one son, Daniel Sykes and wife, Alaina; four siblings, Janet Sandra Penley, Ernie Penley, Karen Deel, and Carol Jeffers and husband, Danny; three grandchildren, Cambria Sykes, Coheed Sykes, and Alkaline Sykes; special companion of many years, Carla Sykes; step-son, Brandon Sykes; two nephews, Jonathon Deel and Mason Jeffers also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Steve Lester officiating. Interment will be at the Austin Cemetery at Venia, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Sykes, Jonathon Deel, Mason Jeffers, Keith Osborne, Ernie Penley, Danny Jeffers, Chris Rowe, and Alvin Deel.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required. For those unable or uncomfortable attending, the funeral service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page as well as our webpage.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home on Saturday from 12 – 1 PM.
