Mr. Darrel Wayne Green, age 81, of Cumberland, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (June 24, 2020) in Farmville, Virginia. Born May 10, 1939 in Dickenson County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Alfred and Tina Honaker Green. He was a retired coal miner, having formerly been employed by Pittston Coal Company. He was a member of Wild Meadows Baptist Church in White Sulphur Springs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Emma Jean Green, Ronnie Green, Pauline Edwards, Billy Jack Greene, Betty Collius, and Joann Collius.
Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Mary Elizabeth Green; four sons, Darrel Wayne Green and wife, Debra, Richie Green and wife, Peggy, Jeff Green and wife, Patricia, and David Green and wife, Sandy; six siblings, Margaret Edwards, Kermit Greene, Shelby Lowe, Richard Greene and wife, Lucille, Linda Mooney and husband, Ron, and Mavis Baker and husband, Eugene; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Presley Place Cemetery on Sutherland Ridge, Dickenson County, Virginia with Rev. Lowell O’Dell officiating. Interment will follow.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
