David C. “June” Blankenship, Jr., age 90, of Oakwood, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Monday (November 28, 2022) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born March 12, 1932 in Finney, Virginia, he was a son of the late Rev. David Blankenship, Sr. and Nora Bailey Blankenship. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of Oakwood Full Gospel Church. He had been employed as a salesman for United Supply and Buchanan Wholesale. He coached Little League for over fifteen years and made an impact on the lives of hundreds of children. He enjoyed playing guitar, golf and cards.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several precious brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Helton Blankenship; nine children, Monica Emerick and husband, Tony, James Blankenship and wife, Missy and Greg Blankenship all of Oakwood, Virginia, Steve Blankenship and wife, Theresa and Sharon Cordill and husband, David all of Richlands, Virginia; Tony Blankenship and wife, Kathy and Ricky Blankenship and wife, Rue all of Vansant, Virginia; Jeffery Blankenship of Mavisdale, Virginia and Terry Wayne Blankenship and wife, Sharon of Jacksonville, Florida; fourteen grandchildren, Chad, Crystal, Marshall, Derick, Lindsey, Dyllan, T.C., Devan, Taylor, A.J., Aaron, David, James and Lucas; one sister, Trula Harman; one brother, Bill Blankenship and wife, Jean; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday at Oakwood Full Gospel Church with Rev. Jerry Harman and Rev. J.T. Harman officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Oakwood Full Gospel Church after 6 PM Friday.
