Obituary for Delphia Ruth Stevens (Rasnake)

Mrs. Delphia Ruth Rasnake Stevens, age 98, was called to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, November 27, 2022.

Born February 29, 1924 in Council, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Everett and Mertie Ball Rasnake and was lifelong resident of Russell, Buchanan County and in her later years lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Fairview North Carolina. Delphia was a loving, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, writing poetry, and Bible studies. She was a humble and selfless person who placed little value on the riches of the world and you could always depend upon her smile and kind word to everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Homer Stevens of 64 years, daughter Wilma Sue Stevens, grandson Ricky Allen Stevens, sisters Marie Gillespie and Bernice Lockhart and brothers Clinton and Everett Rasnake Jr.

Surviving are daughters Carnell Bethke of Huntsville, Alabama and Janice Milhorn and husband Joe of Fairview, North Carolina, son Homer Gene Stevens and wife Eva Jean of Abingdon, Virginia; grandchildren Kimberly Collins and husband Mike, Charles Bethke of Huntsville, Alabama, J.J. Milhorn and wife Kathleen of Forest, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Michael Collins and wife Kayla, Madison Brock and husband Easton of Huntsville, Alabama, Erika and Jeremiah Milhorn of Forest, Virginia and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Rosedale Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday with Rev. Jeff Kinder officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Virginia.

Serving as pallbearers will be J. J. Milhorn, Jeremiah Milhorn, Mike Collins, Michael Collins, Easton Brock, David Stevens, Greg Rasnake and Jeff Rasnake.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willis Rasnake, Mark Bays and Louis Lippo.

The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to all the caregivers for their loving kindness.
