Obituary for Dolphas Junior Dye

Mr. Dolphas Junior Dye, age 81, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Monday (January 31, 2022) at his home. Born September 26, 1940 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Marshall and Carrie Hess Dye. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Holiness faith. A former coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Jewell Ridge Coal Company #18, R & R Coal, and Stone Mountain Tire. He enjoyed being outside and working in his garden, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley Dye, Donald Dye, Luther Dye, and Claude Dye, five sisters, Ollie Dye, Roxie Dye, Judy Dye, Eunice Cordill, and Delcie Dye, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Jennie Sparks, brothers-in-law, Herman Dye, Claude Cordill, Russell Corns, Willard Sparks, George Sparks, and Carl Steele, and sisters-in-law, Shirley Sparks, Lovelene Sparks, Reka Dye, and Betty Dye.
Survivors include his loving and caring wife of sixty years, Wilma Sparks Dye; daughter, Jennifer McGlothlin and husband, Wesley; son, Rex Dye and wife, Amy; three grandchildren, Devin Dye and wife, Taylor, DeAnna Dye, and Dakota Dye; special granddog, Kasey; siblings, Ronnie Dye and wife, Sharon, Danny Dye and wife, Ellen, Cecil Dye and wife, Margaret, Wanda Richardson and husband, Fred, Doris Corns, and Connie Richardson and husband, Daniel; sisters-in-law, Ruthie Steele, Ruby Elkins and husband, Carlos, and Doris Dye; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends also survive.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to MSA Hospice Care and his special nurse, Linda Stacy for their loving care they provided.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Tim Lester, Rev. Jim Richardson, and Rev. Daniel Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Leonard Dye Cemetery in Swords Creek, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Devin Dye, Dakota Dye, Kevin Dye, Jordan Dye, Brandon Dye, Kaden Dye, Jaxen Hess, Ethan Dye, Larry Sparks, Gary Sparks, Jimmy Sparks, and Keith Elkins.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1 – 2 PM.
Due to the recent surge of COVID in our area, the family has requested that a mask be worn by everyone in attendance.
