Obituary for Donald Darrell Belcher
Donald Darrell Belcher, age 72, of Lebanon, Virginia, formerly of Rowe, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday morning (March 3, 2023) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born February 21, 1951 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late William Raymond Belcher, Jr. and Lucy Ethel Blankenship Belcher. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Rowe Pentecostal Church. He was the owner and operator of Belcher Lumber Company for fifty years. He officiated high school and college basketball with the Appalachian Officials Association and TVAC for thirty-eight years. He met many lifelong friends through the years and always kept up with local sports stats. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Anna Kathryn.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Raymond and Mary Hackney Belcher; maternal grandparents, Rev. David and Nora Bailey Blankenship; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Ancil and Kathleen Childress; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Childress and James Street and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Anna Ruth Childress Belcher; two children, Mark Anthony Belcher and wife, Elizabeth of Cedar Bluff, Virginia and Ashlee Belcher Cook and husband, Brad of Lebanon, Virginia; his precious granddaughter, Anna Kathryn Cook; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Dee Dee Belcher of Oakwood, Virginia; aunts and uncles, Trula Harman, Barbara Blankenship Bill Blankenship and wife, Jean and Royce Street; sisters-in-law, Judy Street and Bonnie Childress; nieces, Ronna Belcher Smith, Brittany Childress Hale, Elizabeth Street Hinkle and nephew, Matthew Belcher; great-nephews, Hunter Smith and Mason Smith; sister at heart, Janie Fleming and a host of special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Monday at Rowe Pentecostal Church 3723 Garden Creek Road, Rowe, VA 24646 with Rev. Brad and Ashlee Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Larry Cook, Darrell Street, Danny Street, Chris Hale, Matthew Belcher, J.T. Harman and Luke Street.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Whitt, Marty Large, Silas Harris, Hodge Chambers and cousins.
The family will receive friends after 5 PM Sunday at Rowe Pentecostal Church.
