Donald Gene “Donnie” Richardson, age 61, of Raven, Virginia, passed away Sunday morning, August 30, 2020 at his home. Born August 17, 1959 in Bucyrus, Ohio, he was a son of the late Dennis and JoAnn Anderson Richardson. He had spent his early life in Bucyrus, Ohio prior to moving to southwest Virginia in 1980. He was a member of Davis Mountain Pentecostal Church and had formerly been employed as a coal miner for Jeff Coal Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Brandon Richardson and one niece, Casey.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-nine years, Regina Horton Richardson of the home; two children, Joshua Richardson and wife, Tasha of Raven, Virginia and Sara Elizabeth Ray and husband, Derek of Swords Creek, Virginia; four grandchildren, Landon Ray, Hadleigh Ray, Brittan Richardson and Allison Richardson; one sister, Debra Richardson and husband, James Donaldson of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, Dennie Richardson of Bucyrus, Ohio; nieces, Hannah, Jamie, Stephanie and Nicole; nephew, Scott; several great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Richardson Cemetery on Horton Ridge. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Honaker Funeral Home Facebook page and will remain available for 24 hours following the service.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home from 10 AM until the funeral hour.
