Mrs. Doris Ann Barrett, age 78, of the Cedar Cliff Road section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Monday (May 15, 2023) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born September 4, 1944 in Tazewell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Lucille Hughes Hicks. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Baptist faith. She had worked for many years as a cook at David’s Grocery and Deli. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, and reading, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Robert “Bobby” Barrett, one brother, Richard Monk, and one grandson, Skyler Hess.
Survivors include three children, Tony Barrett and wife, Melissa, Vickie Hess and husband, Darrell, and Tammy Hess and husband, Shannon; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Barrett, Sarah Baldwin, Abigail Hess, Jason Hess, Misty Hale, Andrew Osborne, Jaden Hess, and Todd Hess; ten great-grandchildren, Evan Stiltner, Kamdyn Hess, Ashlyn Hess, Baileigh Hale, Carlie Hale, Shane Osborne, Lulu Hess, Skyler Hess, Harper Hess, and Celina Hess; sisters, Pat Taylor, Wanda Street and husband, Kermit, and Juanita Rimmer and husband, Harold; special friends, Susie Crow, Ann Honaker, JoAnn Hart, and Rick Bostic; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday in the Barrett Family Cemetery on Cedar Cliff Road, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Larry Stinson and Rev. Danny Altizer officiating. Interment will follow. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the Honaker Funeral Home by 12:30 PM to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Daniel McGlothlin, Ben Barrett, Tony Barrett, Shannon Hess, John Brewster, and Darrell Beavers.
