Mr. Linred Douglas “Doug” Bowman, age 78, of Swords Creek, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Born December 1, 1943 in Maxie, Virginia, he was a son of the late Glen and Ressie Stiltner Bowman. Doug was a 1962 graduate of Grundy Senior High School. He went to work at Virginian Metal Products in 1966, retiring in 2008, after 42 years of dedicated service.
Doug was of the Baptist faith and was a deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lebanon, Virginia. He had also been a member and served as Chairman of Deacons for several years at Ivy Spring Baptist Church in Swords Creek, Virginia. He loved Jesus and the church and volunteered many hours to the maintenance and upkeep of the church. He was a devoted family man and farmer. He loved trout fishing, turkey hunting, and deer hunting. Doug was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Bowman.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Lolita Joyce Spivey Bowman; two sons, Brian Keith Bowman and Kevin Douglas Bowman; one special daughter-in-law, Vicki Jo Belcher Bowman; three brothers, Harold Bowman and wife, Faye, Herman Bowman, and Dean Bowman and wife, Anita; two sisters, Wanda Bowman Spivey and husband, Scott and Susie Bowman Shortridge and husband, Michael; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be a private family service. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at a later date.
