Elizabeth Diane Ray, age 48, of the Miller Creek section of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Monday (September 14, 2020) in a Kingsport, Tennessee hospital. Born August 23, 1972 in Tazewell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of Norman Eugene Ward and the late Betty Jane Street Ward. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of Perkins Chapel in Swords Creek, Virginia. She had formerly been employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and as a scale house operator for E. Dillon & Company.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Randall Ward.
Survivors, in addition to her father, include her loving husband of thirty- two years, Wayne Ray of the home; son, Aaron Ray and companion, Hollie of Clarkâs Valley, Virginia; one daughter, Stephanie Ray and companion, Dewayne of Honaker, Virginia; two grandchildren, Jadyn Ray and Kayson Johnson; former daughter-in-law, Tiffany Ray; two brothers, Richard Ward and Jeffery Ward; three sisters, Susie Fields, Patricia Hess and Melissa Harris and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Claude Ray, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Ray-Plaster Cemetery at Call Valley, Virginia with Rev. Steve Ray officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mark Ray, Dewayne Harris, Jonathan Short, Chris Spangler, Tyler Johnson, Jonathan Harris, Michael Casey and Carlos Peck.
The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home from 12:30 PM-2 PM on Wednesday.
