Mr. Ernest John “E.J.” Deel, age 58, of the Combs Ridge section of Council, Virginia, passed away Saturday (March 19, 2022) at his home. Born November 12, 1963 in Ohio, he was a son of the late Buster and Anna Ruth Thomas Deel. A lifelong resident of the area, he had formerly been employed as a roofer and was a member at the Anchor at Souls Harbor. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off of his back to help those in need. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with the grandbabies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Marlena Ratliff Deel of the home; two daughters, Angela Compton and fiancé, Derick Yates and Teresa Mitchell and husband, Chris all of Honaker; one brother, Eddie Deel; two sisters, Jennifer Rutherford and Lind Ellis; two grandchildren, Shakota Austin “Cotybug” Yates and Alden Loretta “Goose” Yates; special caregiver, Linda Woods; special cousin, Aaron Presley; brother-in-law, Jessie Ratliff.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.
