Ervin Lane Compton, age 66, of Lebanon, Virginia, went to be with the Lord Monday (March 14, 2022) at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. Born April 9, 1955 in Grundy, Virginia, he was a son of the late Dewey Hufford and Martha Madeline Stiltner Compton. He loved the Lord and was a devoted member of the First Clark’s Valley Church of Jesus Christ. He had a heart like no other and was an avid musician and a hard worker. He had formerly been employed as an emergency warranty technician for Pride One Homes in Medina, Ohio. He was an amazing husband, dad, pawpaw, brother and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Compton and a great-grandson, Braylyn Delp.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Compton of Lebanon, Virginia; two children, Brandi Compton and Jason McCoy of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Cody Compton and wife, Danielle of Honaker, Virginia; one brother, Jerry Compton and wife, Natalee of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; two sisters, Lilian Kennedy and husband, Ronnie of Lebanon, Virginia and Diane Moore and husband, Chris of Millwood, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Cierra, Charmaine, Starr, Sean, Cayden, T.J., Landon, Noah, Karleigh, Levi and Brenton; eight great-grandkids, Caspen, Coberlyn, Nevaeh, Mason, Liam, Houston, Onna and Justin; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Keith and Norma Hammons of Howard, Ohio and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Trenton Keel at Russell County Hospital in Lebanon, Virginia and the ICU staff of University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia; the Washington County Moose and Family Center Lodge #1966 of Abingdon, Virginia; Dave and Lisa Foglesong of Abingdon, Virginia; Congregation of First Clark’s Valley Church of Jesus Christ and especially Pastor Stephen Damron for always being there no matter the time or reason.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7 PM Saturday at First Clark’s Valley Church of Jesus Christ, 97 Miller Lane, Swords Creek, Virginia 24649 with Rev. Stephen Damron and Rev. Gary Damron officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church after 6 PM Saturday.
