Mr. Everett Johnson, age 79, of Council, Virginia, passed away Saturday (July 4, 2020) at his home. Born January 16, 1941 in Buchanan County, he was a son of the late Stewart and Maudie Jackson Johnson. A lifelong resident of Buchanan County, he had formerly been employed as a coal miner and enjoyed farming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Johnson, Buster Johnson, and Authur Johnson, five sisters, Lucy Johnson, Trula Mae Sutherland, Betty Johnson, Vergie Stevens, and Bonnie Dales, nephew, Carter Johnson, great- nephew, Frank James Ratliff, and special aunt, Mary Bell Wood.
Survivors include one daughter, Angela Michelle Street of Chilhowie; two sisters, Rita Ratliff and husband, Junior of Davenport, and Chloe Tiller of Haysi; brothers, Dallas Johnson of Lebanon, Kenny Johnson and wife, Teresa, Glenn Johnson all of Swords Creek, Elmer Johnson and wife, Carolyn of Lexington, North Carolina; his companion and caregiver, Loretta Willis of the home; grandchildren, Jonathan Street, Richard Combs, Aaron Combs, and Marcus Combs; caregivers, Wilma and Harlan Boyd, Kathy Jones, Sharon Lewis, Craig Viers, and Hester Horn; one uncle, Raymond Johnson; special niece, Brenda Duty and several additional nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery at Council, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Monday.
