Mr. Frazier Stanley Saunders, age 75, of Vilas, North Carolina, passed away Saturday (December 11, 2021) at his home. Born February 16, 1946 in the Punkin Center section of Swords Creek, Virginia he was a son of the late Stanley Brian “Bud” and Ellen Cora Plaster Saunders. He had lived his early life in the southwest Virginia area, before moving to Boone thirty-seven years ago. He had formerly been employed by Jewell Ridge Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. He loved to sing and play guitar, traveling to area churches singing with the Saunders Family. He was a gifted mechanic and enjoyed watching boxing and westerns on TV. He was a dedicated father and grandfather and each member of the family viewed him as their hero.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne Saunders, Dave Saunders, and Ricky Saunders, three sisters, Gwen Price, Faye Shelton, and Sharon Wicks, and one son-in-law, Steve Presnell.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Lucy Maxine Saunders of the home; children, Stanley Ray Saunders and wife, Irene, Michael Wayne Saunders and wife, Debra Ann, Patricia Presnell, Sabrina Presnell, Hannah Saunders, Joshua Presnell and wife, Cheyenne, and Elizabeth Presnell; grandchildren, Courtney Scholl, Shanika Saunders, Liberty Dandy, Justus Saunders, Dustin Oliver, Nicholas Saunders Grafton, Jacob Grafton, Brinia Presnell, Monroe Presnell, Henreigh Laws, Paisleigh Presnell, Jessie Cora-Lee Presnell; great-grandchildren, Landon Scholl, Maddie Scholl, Sam Scholl, Eli Cook, Alyssa Cook, Jaelyn Dandy, Jesslyn Dandy, William Dandy, Carson Saunders, Kason Oliver, and Dillon Prevatt; siblings, Debbie Horne, Sandy Osborne, and Steve Saunders; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Steve Ray and Rev. Toby Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Saunders Grafton, Dustin Oliver, Josh Presnell, Monroe Presnell, Travis Ward, and Steve Hicks.
Tyler Hicks will serve as honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Monday.
