Gary Wayne Dunford, age 66 of Lebanon, Virginia, passed away Thursday (December 1, 2022) at his home. Born July 4, 1956 in McDowell County, West Virginia, he was a son of Reca Blair Dunford of Bee, Virginia and the late William “Bill” Dunford. He had spent his early life in the Sullivan Branch section of Bee, Virginia prior to moving to Lebanon. He had been employed as a coal miner at Smith Gap and McClure #2 and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. After retiring from the coal mines, he worked in several area body shops.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of forty-three years, Kathy Brown Dunford of the home; two children, William Dunford and wife, Stephanie and Ashley Elizabeth Michelle Dunford and, Joshua Boyd both of Lebanon, Virginia; two grandchildren, Willow Dunford and Draven Dunford; siblings, Angela Dunford, Brenda Robinson and Todd Dunford; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Geraldine and Terry Johnson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Keith and Diane Patrick; several nieces and many special friends.
The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM.
