Obituary for Gary Eugene Reynolds

Rev. Gary E. Reynolds, age 54, of the Mill Creek section of Raven, Virginia, passed away Saturday (March 28, 2020). Born January 4, 1966 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Kyle and Dorothy Peck Reynolds of Raven. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1985 graduate of Honaker High School. A devoted Christian, he had been serving as pastor at McGlothlin’s Chapel Church for over ten years. He enjoyed farming, hunting, truck pulls, but most of all spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Faye Yates, maternal grandparents, Orville and Nora Peck, and paternal grandparents, James Harvey and Eula Reynolds.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife of thirty-four years, Rita Yates Reynolds; one daughter, Kayla Nicole Hess and husband, Darren; brother, Kyle Stacey Reynolds and Tina; grandchildren, Braylon “Little Man” Hess, Arianna Hess, and Adaleigh Hess; adopted children by heart, Derik Reynolds and Mashalia, Cody and Emily Reynolds, Julia and Ryan Jackson, and Savannah Thomas; adopted grandchildren by heart, Caleb Reynolds and Ensley Reynolds; nieces and nephews, Megan and Colin Eades, and Andrew and Allyson Kessee; great-nephews, Brayden and Jaxson Eades; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Katie Yates and Joyce Thomas; special friends, Judy Ray, Anita Ray, and Isaiah Ray; aunts, uncles, cousins, host of friends, his Haysi Truck Pull Family and his Skyview Campground family also survive.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday with
Rev. Eugene Miller, Rev. Ellis Whited, and Rev. Daniel Richardson officiating at the Gross Cemetery at 2736 Clarks Valley Road, Swords Creek, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Price, Billy Price, Chris Brown, Eric Shortt, Donnie “Duck” Musick, Stanley Musick, Rondo Reynolds, and Robert Reynolds.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Allen Reynolds, Derik Austin Reynolds, Kody Smith, Daniel Justus, Tony Ball, John Ball, and Brad Robinson.
