Mr. Gary Dean Rose, age 61, of the Clarks Valley Road section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (September 28, 2022) at his home. Born June 8, 1961 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Earnest and Ethel Shelton Rose. A lifelong resident of the area, he attended Fullers Chapel church. He had formerly been employed as a truck driver at Bostic Coal Company. He enjoyed fishing and hunting deer and ginseng.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Brandon Dean Rose, four brothers, Danny Lee Rose, Donald Eugene Rose, and two infants. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include one son, Gary Allen Rose of the home; special sister-in-law, Janice Rose of Honaker; his canine companion, Smokey; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday at the Ray Cemetery in the Call Valley section of Swords Creek with Rev. Tommy Dye officiating. Interment will follow.
Pallbearers will be Derek Miller, Adam Byrd, Danny Rose, Scotty Miller, Junior Yates, and Shade Ray.
