Mrs. Gaylena F. Perkins, age 91, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Saturday (May 8, 2021) in a Lebanon, Virginia nursing facility. Born February 9, 1930 in Swords Creek, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Reuel and Estelle Miller Phillips. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church for sixty-seven years. She was a 1947 graduate of Honaker High School and was owner and operator of Perkins Service Station and Grocery for forty-seven years. She enjoyed attending car shows and collection pictures and coins, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Perkins and Norma Faye Phillips and two brothers, Edgar Phillips and Thurman Phillips.
Survivors include her husband of seventy-three years, Lowie Perkins of the home; one son, Ernie Perkins and wife, Nancy of Honaker; two grandchildren, Angela Teffeteller and husband, Rick of Knoxville, Tennessee, Delores Stilwell and husband, Tony of Statesville, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Marshall Teffeteller of Knoxville, Emily Brown of Claremont, North Carolina, and Noah Teffeteller of Greenville, South Carolina; great-great-grandchild, Remington James of Claremont; two sisters, Donna Hess and Dana Christian and husband, Oris both of Lebanon; sister-in-law, Phyllis Phillips of Bristol; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday at the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Scotty Perkins and Rev. Wayne Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Jackson Cemetery in Honaker, Virginia.
Due to COVID restrictions mandated by the governor, a mask is required. For those unable or uncomfortable attending, the funeral service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page as well as our webpage.

Pallbearers will be Noah Teffeteller, Marshall Teffeteller, Rick Teffeteller, Tony Stilwell, Calvin Hess, and Donnie Christian.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Jackson, Bill Vicars, Oris Christian, and the Men of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Tuesday.
