Ginger Lea Gile Fields, age 66, of the Miller Creek section of Rowe, Virginia passed away Wednesday morning (June 22, 2022) at her home. Born February 18, 1956 in Phoenix, Arizona, she was a daughter of Gene Raymond and Delores Ann Harrell Gile of Phoenix, Arizona. She spent her early life in Arizona, where she met a young soldier on leave from the Army, John Fields. She and John were married on January 2, 1976 and returned to his home state of Virginia where they made their home. The couple became members of the Reed’s Valley Primitive Baptist Church in April 1983. Her faith and her family were everything to her. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and a wonderful cook. She was formerly employed as a customer service manager at Walmart. She never met a stranger and always showed love to everyone she came in contact with.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Lee Fields; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Myrtle Harrell and paternal grandparents, Jim and Edith Gile.
Survivors include her husband of forty-six years, Elder Otis John Fields of the home; two children, Jamie Lynn Fields of Miller Creek, Virginia and Joshua John Fields and wife, Ashley of Charlotte, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Zoe Blevins, Gage Shook and Wyatt Fields; one great-granddaughter, Edith Mae Blevins; two brothers, Gene Gile and wife, Kathy and Mick Gile and wife, Carol; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Larry Blevins and Elder Benny Blevins officiating. Interment will follow in the White Rose Cemetery at Miller Creek, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Wyatt Fields, Gage Shook, Dennis Gile, Brent Gile, Adam Randolph, Mickey Gile and Jonah Blevins.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Saturday at the Honaker Funeral Home where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM.
