Obituary for Glenda Ratliff (Wampler)

Glenda Wampler Ratliff, age 73, of the Rockhouse Branch Road section of Davenport, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (November 29, 2022) in a Grundy, Virginia hospital. Born September 27, 1949 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Elbert Wampler, Sr. and Mary Belle Johnson Wampler Wood. A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Baptist faith and a graduate of Council High School. She joined the Job Corps after graduating to become a medical transcriptionist, but she spent most of her life doing what she loved most, being a homemaker along side her husband and taking care of her family. She enjoyed being outdoors and gardening until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She loved listening to gospel singing and always looked forward to visitors who would share the word of God with her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-seven years, Milton Ratliff; one brother, Kester Wampler; two sisters, Gloria and Regena Wampler; her step-father, Tolby Wood; several half-brothers and half-sisters; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends who are waiting for her to join them on Heaven’s eternal shore.
Survivors left to mourn her loss, her loving and precious son, Emory Ratliff; kind and caring daughter-in-law, Mary Ratliff; her adoring grandchildren, Wade Ratliff, Alexia Ratliff, and Chelsea Ratliff; one special sister, Pandora Kiser and brother-in-law, Scott Kiser; nephew, Rodney Adam Ray and wife, Kate; uncle and aunts, Raymond and Thelma Johnson and Gay Johnson; sister-in-law, Nell Wampler; several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors also survive.
She will be greatly missed by all those left behind, but we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering from her physical ailments here on earth and she is reunited with her husband and all her loved ones in a much better place.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Roy Lee Wilson and Rev. Carl Burmeier officiating. Interment will follow in the Wampler Wood Cemetery near the home.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Saturday.
