Mrs. Goldie Hess, age 99, of the Miller Creek Road section of Russell County, Virginia, passed away Monday (July 13, 2020) at her home. Born April 27, 1921 in Russell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Jenny Keen Whited. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and cutting hair, but most of all spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clyde Hess; two sons, Beecher Hess and Ronnie Hess; grandsons, Lenny Hubbard, Jamie Carrico, and Dougie Carrico; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include six children, Allene Hubbard, Phyllis Lowe, Shelia Sharp, Fayne Hess, Harold Hess, and Gary Hess; one sister, Arlene Compton; one brother, Mason Whited; twenty-six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.

Due to COVID 19, funeral services will be private; however, friends may stop by the funeral home on Friday, July 17, 2020, for an opportunity to view between 9:00 – 12 noon.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Osborne, Boyd Carrico, Gary Hess, Rick Hess, Roger Hess, Barry Hess, Leonard Gerber, Jamie Dye, Nathan Hurt, Jeff Hubbard, and Richard Hess.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Osborne and Andre Hess.
