Mrs. Hazel Geraldine Runyon Harris, age 74, of the Combs Ridge section of Council, Virginia, passed away Monday (June 15, 2020) in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born February 10, 1946 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Tivis and Rosa Ball Runyon. She had spent her early life in Michigan, returning to Virginia fifteen years ago. She was a minister with the Church of God, Sunday School teacher, pianist, and clerk. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Harris, and five siblings, Arbutus Hargis Runyon, Albert Hargis, Jr., Alice Hargis Pemberton, Robert Hargis, and Farley Hargis.
Survivors include children, Donna Lake and husband, Glen, Kenneth Michael Harris, and Teresa McEachran and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Christopher and Angie Harris, Christina and Phillip Ward, Kenney and Amanda Lake, Sarah and Justin Hernandez, and Christopher McEachran; great-grandchildren, Ryder Ward, Rylee Ward, Oliver Harris, Otto Harris, and Annabelle Hernandez.
A private burial will take place on Thursday. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Harris Cemetery on Combs Ridge, Virginia with Bro. Chris McEachran officiating.
