Mrs. Helen Louise Compton Ball, age 82, of Council, Virginia, passed away Thursday (July 23, 2020) at her home. Born January 17, 1938 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Kinzer M. and Gladys Hess Compton. She had spent most of her life in the area and was a member of Venia Chapel. She enjoyed working word search puzzles, gardening, and reading her Bible, but most of all she loved caring for and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ryland Eugene Ball, one son, Lonnie Ball, great-granddaughter, Breanna Grace Rollins, infant sister, Nora Ellen, and two sons-in-law, Ronald Bostic and Michael Harrigan.
Survivors include six children, Patty Harrigan of Kingsport, Tennessee, Ronda Bostic and husband, Charlie of Council, Janet Nuckles and husband, David of Honaker, Leslie Ball and wife, Carleen of Fletchers Ridge, Kennie Ball and wife, Lisa of Hayters Gap, and Marlie Ball and wife, Jennifer of Stinson Ridge; four siblings, Faye McGlothlin and husband, Rean, Raymond M. Compton and wife, Joyce, Annie Ball, and Rema Harris and husband, Danny; seventeen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Wendell Harris and Rev. Guy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Family Cemetery on Fletchers Ridge, Virginia.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Venia Chapel Church and Sunday School.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Saturday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev. Dennis McGlothlin and Rev. Troy Harris officiating.
