Mr. James “Richard” Colley, age 80, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Thursday (June 9, 2022) in a Pikeville, Kentucky hospital. Born July 16, 1941 in Bastian, Virginia, he was a son of the late Richard D. and Maude Catherine Thomas Colley. He had spent most of his life in the area and was a 1958 graduate of Council High School. He had retired after forty years of service as route sales driver for Flav-O-Rich. He was a member of Horton Ridge Church of God and he enjoyed working on cars and watching Nascar races.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Colley, three sisters, infant, Virginia Colley, Sue Woodward, and Earnie Adams, and son-in-law, Lanny Miller.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Willie “Dean” Honaker Colley of the home; four children, Pam Miller of Honaker, Keith Colley and wife, Angie of Lebanon, Rick Colley and wife, Vickie of Honaker, and Misty Roberts and husband, Kevin of Pounding Mill; seven grandchildren, Amanda Statzer and husband, Jason, Jared Colley, Christina Ball and husband, Justin, Haleigh Colley, Morgan Sizemore and husband, Ethan, Kaylie Roberts and Ethan Roberts; four great-grandchildren, Madeline Statzer, Brady Statzer, Cambrie Sizemore, and Liam Sizemore; one sister, Patty Barton and husband, W.C.; special cousin, Clifford Thomas; several nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Dennis White and Rev. Carter Wells officiating. Entombment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jared Colley, Ethan Roberts, Jason Statzer, Brady Statzer, Brandon Vance, Luther Sauls, Kevin Roberts, and Justin Ball.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home on Monday from 12 – 1 PM.
