Obituary for Jean O'Quinn (Tiller)

Jean Tiller O’Quinn, age 79, of Abingdon, Virginia, formerly of Bee, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2022 at the home of her daughter. Born July 21, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Clercy Tiller. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Tyler.
Proverbs 31:10 says, Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:25-27 states, Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her togue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
What a godly example mom was, she showed us how to live our lives pleasing to God and we were so blessed to have her. Her greatest joys were serving the Lord and serving her family. She always had a hot meal and a clean house. Her love for us beyond measure and especially for Tyler. When we almost lost her in December of 020, I talked to a friend about all the prayers she had prayed for Tyler and how I depended on that. She said all those prayers are stored up in Heaven and will be with him all of his days. It’s the same for Keith and I, she prayed many a prayer for us and we will carry that always. Even when dementia was stealing her away from us, we often heard her praying.
Proverbs 31:28, Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Mom and Dad were blessed with sixty years of marriage and now they are rejoicing in Heaven and far better off than we are. Its hard to give them up but the comfort from knowing where they are is a gift beyond measure.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Buster O’Quinn; grandson, Hunter Timothy Howard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia and Frank O’Quinn, Hester and Billy Rasnake, Barbara and David Honaker and Stan Farmer; brother and sister-in-law, Elden and Inez Barton.
Survivors include one son, Keith O’Quinn and wife, Debbie of Lebanon; one daughter, Christy Howard and husband, Timothy and grandson, Tyler Howard all of Abingdon; two step-granddaughters, Leslie Vandyke and Chris, Amanda Brewer and Chad; three step-great-grandchildren, Brian Vandyke, Grayson Brewer and Madison Brewer; three sisters, Brenda Fletcher and husband, Jerry, Glenna Ray and husband, Dexter, and Vernelle Perrigan and husband, Hershel; two brothers, Lester Tiller and wife, Sandra, and James Tiller and wife, Yuvonne; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
