Mr. Jeffery Scott VanDyke, age 46, of Raven, Virginia, passed away Thursday (March 12, 2020). Born May 14, 1973 in Tazewell County, Virginia, he was a son of Sharon Gail Smith VanDyke of Raven and the late Louis Grant VanDyke. A lifelong resident of Tazewell County area, he was a member of Bee Branch Primitive Baptist Church. A 1993 graduate of Richlands High School, he had formerly been employed by VanDyke Trucking and L & L Trucking. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Louis “Pokie” VanDyke, maternal grandparents, Dale and Lillian Smith, and paternal grandparents, Grant and Mary VanDyke.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Marlena VanDyke of the home; one step-daughter, Kali Clark of Raven; one sister, Hope Ball and husband, Ben of Honaker; one brother, Ryan VanDyke of Raven; special nieces and nephews, Caiden Ball, Nick Ball, Emma Ball, and Dale Smith; several addition nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Macedonia Church in Raven, Virginia with Elder Ronnie Beavers, Elder Kenneth Mullins, Elder Darrell Mullins, Elder Blake Mullins, and Elder Elzie Mullins officiating. Interment will follow in the Simmons Cemetery near the church.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Lowe, Caiden Ball, Nick Ball, Rodney Johnson, Ben Ball, and Terry Smith.
The family will receive friends at Macedonia Church after 6:00 PM Tuesday.
