Obituary for Jewel Ball

Jewel Ball, age 81, of the Clarks Valley section of Swords Creek, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (January 5, 2022) at his home. Born October 23, 1940 in Cleveland, Virginia, he was one of eleven children born to the late Sell Preston and Gracie Musick Ball. A lifelong resident of the area, he had proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963-1965. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1974 and he and his wife, Lorine served as pastors of God’s House of Deliverance at Swords Creek, Virginia for fifteen years. He was a retired coal miner, having been employed by Pittston Coal Company at the Jewell Ridge mines and was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed working on the farm and spending time with his family, but his greatest joy came from serving the Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Ballard Ball, Hurley Ball, Jack Ball, James Ball, Willis Ball and Chester Ball and two sisters, Doshia Ball Musick and Bertha Ball Epps.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lorine Ball of the home; two daughters, Angela Ward and husband, Jack of Clarks Valley, Virginia and Lisa Sargent and husband, Wendell of Swords Creek, Virginia; two granddaughters, Kayla Reynolds of Clarks Valley and Desarae Taylor of Swords Creek; two great-grandchildren, Kole Reynolds and Bretlei Whited; two sisters, Alice Ball Fitzwater and Pearl Ball; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Monday at God’s House of Deliverance at Swords Creek, Virginia with Rev. Jackie Miller and Rev. Keith Milam officiating. Interment will follow in the Lockhart Chapel Cemetery on Campbell Hollow Road, Honaker, Virginia. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9864 of Lebanon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Craig Miller, Leon Ball, Paul Ball, Clyde Ball, Clark Epps and Ronnie Stevens.
All additional nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at God’s House of Deliverance on Monday from 1 PM until 2 PM.
Due to the recent surge of COVID cases in our area, it is requested that everyone in attendance wear a mask.
