Johnny Wayne Burke, age 64, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Saturday (March 4, 2023) in Cedar Bluff, Virginia. Born June 10, 1958 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Alma Caleb and Daisy Florence Osborne Burke. A lifelong resident of the area, he spent his early life in Buchanan County, Virginia where he attended Garden Creek High School. Johnny served in the National Guard for seventeen years, worked many years as a Certified Nurse Assistant in Richlands and was a member of Hubbard’s Chapel in Honaker. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, but most of all he shared his love for the Lord by playing music with his sons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Bostic Burke.
Survivors include two sons, Adam Burke and Aaron Burke both of the home; two brothers, Joel Burke and wife, Brenda of Rowe, Virginia, Carlos Burke and wife, Darlene of Davenport, Virginia; fiancée, Henrietta Rose and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday (March 10, 2023) in the Honaker Funeral home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Mike Dye and Rev. Tim Whited officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The Family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM both nights.
