Orman Crawford Harris, Jr., age 52, of Oakwood, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (February 22, 2023) at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Virginia. Born October 5, 1970 in Grundy, Virginia, he was a son of Ruby Boyd Harris of Oakwood, Virginia and the late Orman Crawford Harris, Sr. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1989 graduate of Garden High School. He had formerly been employed as a truck driver for MAC Construction. He loved the Lord and enjoyed attending different churches in the area, singing and playing his guitar. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, building and tending to his animals.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Edna Boyd; paternal grandparents, Donald and Lula Bill Harris; father-in-law, Darrell Blankenship and grandmother-in-law, Shirley Meadows.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his high school sweetheart and wife of thirty-four years, Lisa Jean Harris of the home; one son, Justin Harris and wife, Danielle of Fort Wainwright, Alaska; grandchildren, Mercedes Connors, Ethan Hayward and Emily Hayward; one expected grandchild, Madison Harris; one sister, Rita Yates and husband, Joel of Pounding Mill, Virginia; mother-in-law, Betty Hurt of Rowe, Virginia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, “Darrell Boy” and Christina Blankenship; grandfather-in-law, Harvey “T” Meadows; niece, Brittany Yates and partner, Christopher of North Attleboro, Massachusetts and several additional nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Anthony Hale, Rev. Roy Smith and Rev. Dwight Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in the Street Cemetery at Rowe, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Roy Smith, “Darrell Boy” Blankenship, Jared Deskins, Joel Yates, Brandon Hurt and D.J. Blankenship.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Saturday at Honaker Funeral Home.
