Obituary for Kevin Dwight "Turtle" Dye

Mr. Kevin Dwight “Turtle” Dye, age 46, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (September 7, 2022) in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. Born February 15, 1976 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of Cecil and Shelia Bostic Dye of Swords Creek. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1994 graduate of Honaker High School and had formerly been employed in the construction of roads in the area. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching westerns, but most of all spending time with his family, especially his great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his companion of twenty years, Angie Thacker; one brother, Scott Anthony “Andy” “Opie” Dye, his paternal grandparents, James and Lucy Dye, and maternal grandparents, Gaynell Blankenship and Earl Bostic.
In addition to his parents, survivors include two brothers, Joseph Dye and wife, Cindy and Michael Dye and very special friend, Brian Justice; nieces and nephews Chelsea Artrip and husband, Jeremy, and Justin Dye and wife, Brittney; great-nieces and great-nephews, Bentley, Parker, Sofia, Jaxson, Hudson, and Havenliegh; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Tommy Dye and Rev. David Perkins officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Dye Cemetery at Miller Creek. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jamey Dye, David Dye, Delmer Spencer, Brian Spencer, Gary Hubbard, Doug Dye, Timmy Whited, Terry Whited, and Randy Lester.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Dye and Dallas Dye.
The family will receive friends after 5:30 PM Friday at Honaker Funeral Home.
