Mr. Larkin “C.A.” Hubbard, age 85, of the Lynn Springs section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Friday (December 30, 2022) at his home. Born January 24, 1937 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Larkin and Lizzie Ray Hubbard. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a retired coal miner, having been employed by Pittston Coal Company, and was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed watching westerns, hunting, and fishing, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Helen Hubbard of the home; five children, Rick Hubbard and wife, Donnell of North Carolina, Sandy Taylor and husband, Kenny, and Ronnie Hubbard and wife, Deb all of Lebanon, Sherry Carter of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Scotty Hubbard and wife, Pamela of Swords Creek; eleven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2023 from 11:30 AM – 1 PM at the Honaker Funeral Home with services beginning at 1:00 PM with Rev. Kenny Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
