Obituary for Larry Allen Ray
Larry Allen Ray, age 70, of Abingdon, Virginia, formerly of the Finney section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday morning (June 4, 2023) at Commonwealth Senior Living. Born January 3, 1953 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Hubert Lee and Mary Ann Harrison Ray. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1971 graduate of Honaker High School. He enjoyed watching basketball and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include five siblings, Junior Ray and wife, Mylea of Haymarket, Virginia, Jackie Ray of Abingdon, Virginia, Kathy Ray of Greenville, South Carolina, Mack Ray and wife, Helen of Lebanon, Virginia and Thom Ray and wife, Julie of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces and nephew, Tracy, Bradley, Cassidy, and Hannah; five great-nieces and great-nephews, Sydney, Gavin, Garrett, Trystan, and Maggie; a host of friends also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents of Commonwealth Senior Living for all the loving care and support through the last 3 ½ years.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 5: 30 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Kinder officiating.
The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home from 4-5:30 PM Monday
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in the form of donations to Commonwealth Senior Living of Abingdon, 860 Wolf Creek Trail, Abingdon, Virginia 24210.
