Obituary for Lowie Lee Perkins

Mr. Lowie Perkins, age 94, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday (August 7, 2022) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born September 10, 1927 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Granville Perkins and Rachel Hale Perkins Jackson. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of Valley View Freewill Baptist church for sixty-eight years. He was veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country during World War II in Germany and Austria. He was owner and operator of Perkins Service Station and Grocery for forty-seven years and had been a bus driver for Russell County School System for twenty years. He was a member of VFW Post 9864 of Lebanon, Virginia, the Model Ford Club of America, and Masonic Pruner Lodge 254. He enjoyed gardening, car shows, and antiquing, but most of all spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of seventy-three years, Gaylena Perkins, his step-father, Thomas Jackson, three brothers, Baxter Perkins, Geffery Perkins, and Avery Perkins, and three sisters, Iowa Perkins, Gertie Perkins, and Ruby Perkins. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors include one son, Ernie Perkins and wife, Nancy of Honaker; two granddaughters, Angela Teffeteller and husband, Rick of Williamston, South Carolina and Delores Stilwell and husband, Tony of Statesville, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Marshall Teffeteller, Emily Brown, and Noah Teffeteller; two great-great-grandchildren, Remington James and Grayson James; one expected great-great-grandson, Waylon Lance; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Scotty Perkins and Rev. Wayne Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Jackson Cemetery in Honaker, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Marshall Teffeteller, Noah Teffeteller, Rick Teffeteller, David Dye, Calvin Hess, and Kirby Meadows.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Jackson, Bill Vicars, Men of Valley View Freewill Baptist Church, and members of Masonic Pruner Lodge 254.

The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Tuesday, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
