Obituary for Mary Ann Ray (Harrison)
Mrs. Mary Ann Ray, age 86, of Abingdon, Virginia, formerly of the Finney section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (February 7, 2023) in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. Born February 18, 1936 in Russell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George and Sallie Thompson Harrison. A lifelong resident of the area, she enjoyed cooking and shared many meals around her table with friends and loved ones. If anyone in the community was sick or in need, she would show her love to them by preparing them meal. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and was always serving others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Lee Ray, and two brothers, Bobby Harrison and Harold Gene Harrison.
Survivors include six children, Junior Ray and wife, Mylea of Haymarket, Virginia, Larry Ray and Jackie Ray both of Abingdon, Virginia, Kathy Ray of Atlanta, Georgia, Mack Ray and wife, Helen of Lebanon, Virginia, and Thom Ray and wife, Julie of Atlanta, Georgia; three siblings, Martha Sue Burkholder of Johnson City, Tennessee, Judy Fields of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Jerry Farmer of Bristol, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Tracy, Bradley Cassidy, and Hannah; five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Gavin, Garrett, Trystan, and Maggie; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Divine Home Health Care and Commonwealth Senior Living for all of the loving care and support through the years.
Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 6:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Jeff Kinder officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 9:30 AM to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hilton, Matt Hilton, Buck Hart, Roy Honaker, Rick Miller, and Donnie Musick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Hart and Mark Murphy.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 5:00 PM Friday.
